Hey, I’m Refat. I build AI systems and write about what I learn along the way.
I’ve been in software for over 15 years: startups, enterprise, everything in between. Built systems for Porsche, Dutch national transit infrastructure, worked with teams that later got featured in Forbes. Now I’m co-founder of Devstark (AI-first studio) and SpreadSimple. Occasionally I judge hackathons, speak at events, or jury awards like the Webbys.
I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of tech and business. Not just “how do we build this” but “why, for whom, and will it pay off.” I enjoy helping less technical people make sense of technology, and it’s genuinely satisfying to see founders build software with their own hands, even if it’s just a prototype or a side project.
These days I’m focused on pragmatic AI: agents, automation, knowledge management — what actually works, not the hype. I see real potential in making developer tools accessible to people who never thought they’d write code.
Husband, father, digital nomad. Sometimes I tinker with electronics, do improv, or get lost in geography, history, and philosophy.
